In 1987, Dr. Brian Jegasothy, M.D., a world-renowned dermatologist and former Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Pittsburgh, made a groundbreaking discovery. While formulating a skincare product for Dr. Lingam’s infant child, he identified a concerning truth: 99% of skincare products contain ingredients that cause inflammation—the primary driver of premature aging.

Recognizing the widespread implications of this finding, Dr. Jegasothy, alongside Dr. Lingam and a team of experts, founded Hylunia Skincare in 1988—the first skincare brand to eliminate preservatives, artificial fragrances, and harmful toxins long before “clean beauty” became a recognized movement.
